Headed for a Future Rude Awakening

I have, for some time, been dogmatic in my belief that the time will come when Israel will actually believe, and then say, they have no fear that any of their internal or external Arab enemies could possibly drive them out of their land.  In other words, they would be convinced to the extent of stating they had attained “peace and safety” in the land to the degree of being able to maintain it.  When, to the Spirit’s satisfaction, they reach such a degree of confidence, sudden destruction is coming on them from the north and, much to their surprise, they will be driven into the great Negev wilderness of southern Israel.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Please allow me to quote from a recent article in the Jerusalem Post Internet in order to show they are not far from the scenario in which it seems to them they have “peace and safety.”

“The Syrian army does not pose a significant threat to Israel and has no viable tactical war option.”

“Because of Sunday’s IDF air strike in Syria, they have had to suffer the public indignity of the media mentioning their obsolete forces as being no match for Israel.”

A senior Israeli intelligence officer, according to the article, stated:  “The threat of all-out war does not exist, at least not one that they start.”

Because Israel has handily defeated their Arab neighbors in wars in 1948, 1967, and 1973, they, along with the United States, are certain they can do it again any time.  I believe their successes in these three wars were the will of God, and that is the major reason they won them.  And I do not believe God intends to let them win the initial battle in the coming attack, but will give them the final victory in the battle of Armageddon, which ends this age some three and one half years after the attack.

The Syrian military consists of some 380,000 men, 12 divisions, 3,700 tanks, 2,600 artillery pieces, and about 500 aircraft.  Military sources say that Saudi Arabia has recently funded a large procurement for Kornet anti-tank rockets, which are state of the art.  Most of the Syrian money recently spent in military acquisitions has been for Scud class surface to surface missiles, fortified bunkers for protection from IAF strikes, and hundreds of warheads armed with Sarin and VX nerve agent, with the possibility of some being biological in nature.

When I retired from the National Security Agency in 1971, one could sense even them, that Israel’s victory in the 1967 War had given them a growing sense of invincibility again the Arab nations.  It has grown in scope ever since, and seems to be headed toward the point in time when it will satisfy and fulfill the requirement entailed by a sense of “peace and safety.”

I believe there will be a funneling of Arab oil revenues into Syria on an accelerated basis from now until a modernization of her existing military posture is built up to the point it can suddenly counterattack against an Israeli intrusion into its territory, thereby surprising an overconfident Israeli government with a rude awakening, which will see them driven south of Beersheba.  And I expect this rude awakening to come at some point in time prior to 2008.  The attack is certain, but the time must be classified as opinion.

Daniel 11:40 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
